Wildfire pilots was started as a way to share information on using P3D as a training tool for real world Tanker, Birddog and Helicopter operations on forest fires. There are a number of wildfire organizations who already utilize fixed based simulators to train both pilots and government Air Attack Officers and Helicopter Coordinators. One of the issues faced by these groups is finding pilots who can fly fixed and rotary wing aircraft in a realistic manner, who understand basic firefighting tactics and procedures and are able to take direction and fly a coordinated and effective fire mission. That's where you come in, I will assume that since you found your way here you have both an interest in flight simulation and wildfire. It is my hope that we can develop a group of virtual pilots that are available, trained and professional and who can assist in the actual training curriculum our real world pilots and aviation coordinators are currently conducting. Initially we will be looking for helicopter pilots to trial this idea. The ultimate goal will be to have these pilots assisting with some actual training missions via the online multiplayer capabilities of P3D. If the initial trial is successful we will start training pilots to take on the role of retardant tankers and water scooping aircraft. I can make no promises but I do see virtual fire pilots becoming a key component to this type of training and like all professional you would expect to be paid for your experience and professionalism.
